We adapted Apple iBooks so we could transform them into a game-changing interactive tool for Australian students.
Together again
After working together on the iconic Jacaranda Atlas, we were thrilled when the leading educational publisher invited us to co-develop a range of interactive textbooks for the iconic publisher’s first range of Apple iBooks for iPad.
As educators transition from traditional paper-based textbooks to digital learning, Jacaranda wanted to create a more interactive learning experience for middle school students with the introduction of its first suite of digital textbooks for Apple iBooks.
Innovation
We designed, developed and incorporated a custom-built activity canvas widget for Jacaranda, to give students a more interactive learning experience than what is currently on the market in this space. While many other widgets had previously been incorporated into Apple iBooks, our activity canvas was one of the first to allow users to create their own content.
This level of interactivity allows students to use their iPads to read through the same content as the textbooks, while completing integrated activities such as answering chapter questions, sketching diagrams and taking notes
Staying ahead in the digital revolution
Harnessing iBooks for the Australian Curriculum was a crucial step in Jacaranda’s digital transformation, as Australian educators and students continue to move through the digital education revolution at a dramatic pace. Each year, more than 100,000 new students and 10,000 teachers register to access Jacaranda’s suite of digital resources with this number set to keep growing dramatically.
