Building a Niche Content Platform for Australian Aquascaping Enthusiasts

The Background

Aquasoul is a niche content platform created by Lifers Pty Ltd, a collective of design, tech, and strategic thinkers. The project was sparked by the personal passion of Raels Robertson, Mettro’s Managing Director, who is a long-time aquascaping enthusiast with a house full of rare and beautifully maintained planted aquariums.

With deep hands-on experience and subject matter expertise, the team saw a gap in the Australian market. There were no well-researched, user-friendly sites that offered reliable content about aquascaped aquariums. Aquasoul set out to fill that gap, launching as both a passion project and a strategic content brand with long-term commercial potential.

The Challenge

This wasn’t just about building a pretty website. Aquasoul needed to be a platform that could scale with content, attract organic search traffic, and eventually support monetisation, all while feeling calm, elegant, and credible.

The team aimed to deliver expert-driven content that resonated with a growing audience of aquarium hobbyists, while also laying the groundwork for future SEO and conversion opportunities. And because the site would be content-heavy, the backend needed to be simple and fast for non-developers to update.

Our Approach

We created the brand identity from the ground up. A new logo, a simple brand overview, and a visual design that focused on clarity, balance, and beautiful imagery.

The website was built using GreyboxPro, Mettro’s style engine, which allows designers and content creators to apply brand elements, set up flexible components, and update pages without needing developer support. The system gave us the flexibility to build quickly and adjust on the fly, an ideal fit for a growing content site.

For the content strategy, we utilised Hitlist.ai, our AI-powered topic generation tool, to research search trends and identify what aquarium enthusiasts in Australia were actively looking for. Based on that data, we created a library of SEO-informed article topics.

All content was researched and written in-house, with input from Raeleen and our team of skilled writers. Every article was original, high-quality, and designed to strike a balance between search performance and practical value.

The Outcome

Aquasoul launched smoothly and immediately began to gain traction. While still in the early stages of content rollout, traffic is growing steadily and engagement metrics are positive.

The team has complete control over content and design, with no reliance on developers for day-to-day updates. More importantly, the combination of niche expertise, smart content planning and elegant UX has created a brand that feels trustworthy and enjoyable to explore.

Seeing the site live and watching it grow has reinforced what we believed from the beginning: quality writing, genuinely relevant topics and a structure designed for long-term growth is a powerful combination. If you have an idea you want to turn into a digital business or content platform, we’d love to help.
